as an animator, new simpsons is so painful to watch

the fist shaking is especially disgusting

Ew ew ew ew the “new and improved animation” makes Marge look dead inside compared to the fluidity and emotional range of the classic intro animation. And don’t get me started on that two frame baby shake.
I actually am pretty okay with some of the new Simpsons episodes writing wise - “American History X-cellence” was pretty enjoyable. But the animation has really gotten stiff and lifeless over the years.

Cartoons in general have been changing with the times as animation methods have changed (I won’t say “improved” or “degraded”) and The Simpsons is no exception. The fact that it’s inconsistent with what it was like a hundred years ago when it started is a side-effect that has good points and bad. This part of the intro perfectly illustrates one of the bad, and it reminds me of what has been lost every time I see it. :(
